Three people have been arrested in Kabale district for allegedly stealing property worth Shs 10 million.
The three are suspected to have broken into Buhara Catholic church in Buhara sub-county, Ndorwa East in Kabale district.
According to the Police spokesperson for Kigezi region, Elly Matte, the three suspects were arrested on Wednesday.
The suspects have been identified, Joel Ahimbisibwe 20, Methodius Ngabirano 25, and Gideon Niwaha aged 20.
They were arrested after authorities got a tip off that the three were connected to the break-in at the church which occurred on January 17.
They stole property including 3 loud speakers, amplifier mixer stabilizer, 2 microphone receivers and some cash.
Matte said it was discovered that the said items were discovered to be missing on Sunday after people who had gone for a church service realized the items were missing.
“The thieves had been seen loading the said properties on a boda boda by a good Samaritan who later on cooperated and gave the information leading to their arrest,” Matte said.
He said inquiries are ongoing after which the suspects will be arraigned before the courts to answer to charges.
“I want to commend the courage and commitment of this Good Samaritan and call on out people to continue doing so, because it helps us fight crime together,” Matte said.
