Eight UPDF soldiers were left injured after they got involved in a motor accident in Ntoroko district in Western Uganda.
When contacted, UPDF spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire told SoftPower News that the soldiers were conducting “routine border operations to stem Allied Democratic Front (ADF) from infiltrating or attacking Uganda” when the accident occured.
According to Brig Karemire, the 8 were immediately evacuated to Fortportal hospital for emergency treatment and thereafter admitted.
Six of those have Friday been airlifted from Fort Portal to the General Military Hospital in Bombo for more specialized treatment.
“All the injured are out of danger and we salute the management and technical teams of Fortportal hospital for their tireless efforts in stabilizing them and saving their lives,” Brig Karemire told this site.
The UPDF has insitituted an investigation into the cause of the accident.
