Uganda’s national U17 football team, will later on Sunday make their debut in the Africa Cup of Nations final tournament against Angola in Tanzania.
The game will be played at 7pm at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam and according to Cubs tactician, Ghanian Samuel Kwesi, his men are ready for the game and looking forward for maximum points.
“We have critically analysed the Angola side. We have identified their strong and weak areas. We know what they are made of,” Kwesi said during the prematch Press conference.
“We don’t have stars but a team. We are going to use the strength of our team,” he added.
Kwesi also commended the quality of the league from which the youngsters are selected.
“It is a wonderful thing that is happening in Uganda. We have the U17 league and before you qualify you have to pass the MRI test to play in that league and it has given us an advantage while selecting players,” he said.
Uganda is in group A alongside two West African giants Nigeria who are two time champions, and Angola.
The other team in the Group are longtime football rivals, Tanzania.
The Cubs qualified in August last year after winning the CECAFA U17 zonal qualifiers when they defeated Ethiopia 3-1 in the final at the national stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The tournament which has started today April 14th will run up to April 28th, 2019 and it is the 13th edition but Uganda is playing at the final tournament for the first time in their history.

Coach Kwesi has already named his starting team maintaining the squad that featured in a 4 all draw against Gor Mahia U20 in the second practice match played at Camp Toyoyo Jericho, Nairobi recently.
Uganda has a chance of representing Africa in the FIFA 2019 U17 World Cup in Brazil, South America, should they grace the semi finals of the tournament.
Group B has Guinea, Cameroon, Senegal and Morocco.
