Ahead of Festive Season, MultiChoice Unveils New DStv, GOtv Channels

With the Festive season around the corner, MultiChoice Uganda has announced it is adding a number of new channels to its DStv and GOtv platforms to provide the best entertainment for family time as well as increase viewing options.

Owned by MultiChoice Africa Holdings, MultiChoice Uganda provides its customers with a choice of five packages delivered via the DStv satellite platform with a total of over 140 channels as well as three packages via the GOtv digital terrestrial (DTT) service.

GOtv is officially on a drive to offer its customers more value and choice through its new campaign dubbed ‘This is for you Uganda’ and starting November 13, it offers a refreshed entertainment line-up on its GOtv Max, Plus and Value packages.

For the case of DSTV, new international channels with fresh content offerings have been added to ensure that there is something for everyone in the family and as such, from today November 13, both adults and kids get a new serving of edutainment with learning channel Da Vinchi Learning and global news on Euronews. On Friday, CBS Justice and Curiosity Stream will as well be added.

According to MultiChoice Uganda’s Public Relations and Communications officer, Joan Semanda Kizza, the new channels were carefully selected to to meet needs of every family member.

“We are excited to add more to the great entertainment we offer and look forward to continuing to enrich the lives of our customers over this festive period with value content,” Semanda told reporters at the MultiChoice offices in Kampala on Wednesday.

“We have put together an exciting mix of programming to meet needs of every family member, offering even more value through affordable viewing. During this season, for only Shs 149,000, you will get an HD decoder, a full dish kit and one month of DStv Family, fully installed,” she added.

She says the Festive season is also an opportunity for their customers to enjoy the perks of using additional available services like Box Office, DStv Now and Showmax.

“Because you will be at home, in the village and will your family, now is the best time to enjoy these services and enjoy access to world class entertainment from the comfort of your rooms she explained.

Our focus is to bring our customers the best entertainment possible. We do research every month to understand what they are watching and what they would like to watch and make the changes accordingly. These changes will now mean that our customers will be seeing a fresher and stronger content offering on their packages,” she added.

On his part, Colin Asiimwe, the Head of Marketing MultiChoice Uganda said that this festive season is coming a long with a number of Channel addition to add to the value of the customers by allowing them more to choose from, starting with Pearl Magic which was tiered down to GOtv Plus and Value customers on October 18 as well as DStv Access and Family Customers.

“As MultiChoice, we are determined to bring the local and homegrown content to every household in Uganda,” noted Asiimwe.

“We are giving our GOtv customers the most value for money and even greater choice by making additional channels available for more packages and streamlining packages to deliver fresh entertainment”.

“Our goal as GOtv is to deliver a television experience that caters to the whole family and this comes just in time for the holidays. These changes will not only strengthen our DTT offering but also make great entertainment accessible to more even customers,” Asiimwe explained.

He adds that the holiday period is all about family and so, “there is no better way to celebrate other than with new added channels to the platform.”

Meanwhile, GOtv decoder, Gotenna bundled with one-month GOtv Max subscription is now at Shs 89,000 from MultiChoice Uganda branches, PEP Uganda stores, leading Super Markets, dealers and agents.
