All is Set for Kickstart Mountain Bike Trail and Run Challenge

Running and cycling enthusiasts are in for an enchanting experience with the Kickstart Trail Mountain Bike and Run Challenge, which takes place on January 26 this year.

The Challenge is being organized by Activate Uganda and they say it will be one of the year’s most beautiful and scenic trail races.

It is a prestigious race that will take you through tea estates, tunnels, bridges, extraordinary beautiful views of landscapes, and much more.

The race is open to both adults and kids.

“If you wish to participate in the mountain bike race, please make sure that your bike is in good mechanical condition, and that its shock absorbers are well serviced, as the trail has a few rocky single tracks which are quite bumpy,” Alex Matovu of Activate Uganda said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Challenge will start and finish from Roots Retreat & Camping Resort in Kitende, 5km from Kajansi. The Resort is 20km from Kampala on the Entebbe Road.

Participants in the 14km or 21.6km trail races, are advised to use trail running shoes, or shoes with good grip & cushioning, as the trail will not favour marathon racing shoes.

“We also suggest that you bring a water carrier for the race as it is quite hot at the moment”.

The trail run has been divided into categories of 3.5km, 6km, 14km, 21.6km, while the mountain biking distance will be 26km.

Registration opened on January 13 and will close on January 24. Adult pay Shs 70,000 while kids (under age 15) will pay Shs 60,000.

The registration fees cover: breakfast; venue entry fees; fruit and fresh juice; drinking water before and after the race; prize for top 3 each race category (male & female); finisher medal for everybody who completes the Challenge; electronic timing results.

Interested participants can register at Endiro Coffee next to Acacia Mall, in Kisementi or via the Activate Uganda website
