Covid-19 Cases in Rwanda Hit 40 Amid Countrwide Lockdown

The Ministry of Health of Rwanda has reported 4 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 40.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 24 March 2020, the Ministry said the new cases include 2 travellers from Dubai, one from Belgium and one contact traced from a previously confirmed infected traveller.

The Ministry had on Monday reported a surge in confiirmed cases by 17 bringing the total number of corona virus cases in the East African country 36.

The 17 cases were nine travellers from Dubai, UAE, three travellers from Kenya, two from the United States, and one each from Qatar and India.

One case was a contact of a previously confirmed case who was traced.

According to the Ministry, all the travellers entered isolation between 17th and 20th March and were tested.

Rwanda has the highest number of Covid 19 cases in East Africa.
