Tanzanian Bongo flava star, Diamond Platnumz is currently in Uganda ahead of his much anticipated showcase at Comedy Store in Lugogo, and like one would guess, the Zari issue was inevitably going to pop up.
When the award winning singer and dancer addressed a news conference at Méstil Hotel on Wednesday, he was asked to clear the air on some of the headlines that have been doing rounds regarding him and ex-wife also South African based Ugandan businesswoman, Zari Hassan.
He said he and Zari had a good time in their relationship but that as is the case with every other love affair, things didn’t work out.
“What I can say is – me and her, we had a good time and God blessed us with two kids. Then after that, I think there are reasons why we couldn’t continue with the relationship”.
Diamond and Zari separated in February 2018 after the latter accused the crooner of repeated infidelity.
“Sometimes, maybe when you two are in a relationship, you have a lot of goals, maybe you want to get old together. But sometimes, may be it doesn’t work.”
“And in a normal way as other relationships can go, we separated”.
A collected Diamond said the issues that currently make headlines regarding his flaws are bound to happen as is the case with all separations where there are kids involved.
In May, Diamond unfollowed Nillan and Tiffah, the two kids he has with Zari, on Instagram. Zari had said he had not made communication with them since they separated.
In April, he accused Zari of frustrating his efforts to contact or meet his children. He as well accused Zari of having had several love affairs.
Zari would later brand him an egoistic dad who “doesn’t exist” to her and the two kids. She also denied having affairs.
“We don’t get any emotional and financial support from you. The children couldn’t come to Tanzania because you last saw them in October. You are not emotionally, physically, financially involved in their lives,” she posted on Instagram.
About a week ago, he posted photos of him and the two kids in what seemed like a reunion.
In Kampala on Wednesday, Diamond said “I’m sure we are gonna be the best parents to our kids to the end of their life. I believe we both love our kids,” she said.
“When a relationship is popular, everyday everything comes. And if you don’t know how to control it, they may take you out of line. If you ask me, it’s not good to talk about it so much. It’s private”.
He also added; “When you have kids together, and you separate it brings about things, it’s normal in like every relationship. But we hope things will be better”.
He asked that people take their separation and the other rough patches that the couple has encountered in a positive way “because if they (people) take it in a negative way, it won’t be good for our kids”.
But the singer is convinced the two will strive to be the best parents to their kids Nillan and Tiffah no matter what.
On whether he’s considering getting another girl from Uganda, Diamond said “I don’t wanna bring another trouble. I’m trynna be a good man”.
The ‘Kanyaga’ hit maker who is currently involved with Kenyan lover, Tanasha Don Oketch is expecting his fourth kid. He said he can’t wait.
“It’s a blessing, because everything comes from God. We are wishing and God plans everything. Now we are waiting for a new kid and it’s the right moment”.
