Cranes in Burkina Faso Ahead of AFCON 2021 Qualifiers Opener

Uganda’s national football team, The Cranes, will later Tuesday conduct a training session at Stade due 4 Août de Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso in a bid to acclimatize themselves with the pitch ahead of their Wednesday opener in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Cranes start this qualification campaign against Burkina Faso (away) on Wednesday and then face Malawi (home) on November 17 in Kampala.

They arrived in Burkina Faso on Tuesday morning and are accommodated at Palm Beach Hotel in Ouagadougou.

Uganda is in Group B alongside Burkina Faso, Malawi and South Sudan.

The Ugandans seek to qualify for the third consecutive tournament after putting up a tough challenge at the previous AFCON in Egypt when they were eliminated at the round of 16.

They defeated DRC 2-0, drew one-all with Zimbabwe and lost 2-0 to Egypt in the group stages before losing 1-0 to Sadio Mane’s Senegal.

The tournament will be hosted by Cameroon and the first two teams in each group at the end of the qualifying round, will qualify for the 2021 Nations cup.
