The Ministry of Health has released a list of District Health Officers and District Surveillance Focal Persons along with their telephone contacts, that people in different parts of Uganda should use to alert health authorities on COVID-19 related cases.
Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General of Health Services in the Ministry of Health, said on Wednesday that this is aimed at decongesting the volume of calls coming through the national toll-free call helpline.
“Someone Amudat or Kisoro should not have to call to Kampala. We are decentralizing this alert system. The district officials will assist you in any way possible. If they find that your case requires central intervention, they will be the ones to alert us,” Dr Mwebesa said.
