Four people including a 13-year-old boy have died after they were struck by lightning in Kanungu district, Police reports.
The four had gone to Kyashamiro, a trading centre in Mafuga forest reserve cell, Mafuga parish, Rutenga sub-county on Wednesday when the unfortunate incident occurred.
The striking is said to have happened at around 4pm as the four victims had just finished clearing a compound in the trading centre of the sorghum that they had spread for sun drying.
Police has identified the deceased as Kanyonyi Hebert (38), a one Byukama, Niwamanya Avitus (20) and Akandwanaho Fred (13) who was a pupil at Kyashamiro church school.
Some two other people sustained injuries, according to Elly Matte, the regional Police spokesperson for Kigezi.
Disasters of death by lightning are common in Uganda especially now that many parts of the country are receiving heavy rainfall.
