Kisoro: Rwandan National Gunned Down by Assailants who Trailed Him to His Home

A Rwandan national has been shot and killed in Kisoro by armed assailants who trailed him up to his gate, Police says.

The deceased, identified as Lambert Sabaho, 52, was allegedly gunned down on Monday night.

Sabaho was working as a manager of Isimbi Wines’ factory at Finta House and wa a resident of Bigina village, Hospital Ward in Southern Division, Kisoro municipality.

According to the Police spokesperson for Kigezi region, Elly Matte, the shooting occurred at around 10:20pm on Monday night.

It is alleged that on the 15/04/2019 at around 22:20 hours, a Toyota Premio car white in colour followed Sabaho who was also riding his motorcycle Reg. No. UDS I05H, a Bajaj red in colour.

The assailants shot him dead at the gate of his rented house, Police said.

“The assailants drove off immediately and the registration number of motor vehicle was not identified,” Matte said in a statement on Tuesday.

The deceased was married to a one Anastizia Mahirwe, 32, a Mufumbira by tribe who was a resident of the same place.

The couple has been together for 6 years with one child and with out any conflict, according to the Police statement.

Police say the motive for the alleged murder is not yet established. Sabaho’s body has since been transferred to Kisoro hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

“It’s very unfortunate. We have initiated inquiries. We are trying to make a hunt for who could have done it,” Matte said.

“I would therefore ask that if anyone has any clues, please reveal such clues to the Police so that such perpetrators are dealt with accordingly,” he added.
