Police are searching for a man who went on a killing spree and murdered three children using a machete in Kyankwanzi district.
The man identified as Emmanuel is reported to have committed the murders on Tuesday morning at Kagarama village, Butemba town council in Kyankwanzi district.
Residents of the area alerted Police that Emmanuel armed with a machete attacked the home of a one Kalfred Mushabe where he cut people with no known reason. The injured victims fled for their lives.
At the homestead, Emmanuel cut and killed a 4-year-old baby, son to Mushabe.
Emmanuel then proceeded to another home of workers at a maize plantation and threatened to cut the women whom he found working at the plantation, according to a statement by the CID Spokesperson ASP Twiine Charles Mansio.
“Unfortunately as the women ran away Emmanuel cut dead two more kids aged 3 years and the other 9 months,” ASP Mansio said.
The killer vanished into a big maize plantation.
According to the Police statement, Emmanuel arrived in the village and rented land from one of the residents (Kalfred Mushabe).
Emmanuel has been cultivating his maize and also staying alone in his makeshift house on the said piece of land.
Residents of Kagarama said they are still puzzled as to why this gruesome murder was done, because there has not been any known conflict between Emmanuel and the victims. The residents also said they did not know the killer to be mentally unstable.
More than 8 other people who were badly injured by Emmanuel have been taken to Butemba health centre 3, and others referred to Hoima General Hospital for proper treatment.
“We extended our condolences to the grieved families and pledge to pursue this killer and arraign him in Court for prosecution,” ASP Mansio said.
