Luweero Motor Accident Kills 6 People

Six people have been confirmed dead in a motor accident which occurred on Friday night at Lukomera in Luweero district along Kampala – Gulu highway, involving a taxi and a lorry truck.

According to the Police spokesperson, Savannah region, Kangave Paul, the deadly incident happened when a taxi Reg No UAU 526A from Luweero heading to Kampala collided with a lorry Reg No UBB 030D at around 11pm.

“Out of the six who lost their lives, one was a female,” Kangave says.

He says: “Preliminary reports point to reckless driving as the possible cause of the accident by the taxi which tried to overtake from a prohibited place (corner).”

Police say 8 people have been injured out of whom, two are females and were rushed to Bishop Asiri (Lacor) and Kiwoko hospitals.

Details of the dead and injured are yet to be established, Kangave says.
