With only hours to the kick-off of the final CECAFA Club championship game between Uganda’s KCCA FC and Azam FC from Tanzania, players from the Ugandan side have been assured they will be rewarded with USD 1,000 (Shs 3.7m) from FUFA President, Eng Moses Magogo, should they emerge victors.
Magogo made the pledge while visiting the team in Kigali, Rwanda while coming from Egypt where he was elected CAF Excom Member representing East and Central Africa.
The game is scheduled for 5pm at Nyamirambo stadium.
The Uganda Premier League (UPL) giants beat guest team, Green Eagles of Zambia 4-3 in extra time to qualify for the finals after 40 years.
The tournament is sponsored by Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, and the winners take home USD 30,000, first runners up USD 20,000 and 3rd place winners USD 10,000.
By the virtue of the fact that KCCA FC are at the finals, they are already assured of USD 20,000 no matter results from today’s game.
