Maj Gen James Birungi has been appointed the new Commander for the Special Forces Command (SFC), which is in charge of protecting the President.
Maj Gen Birungi who has been Chief of Staff in the UPDF Air Force succeeds Major General Don William Nabasa. Nabasa has been in command of the an elite unit since January 2017.
The army spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire confirmed the development to SoftPower News on Tuesday.
“It is true, Maj Gen James Birungi has been appointed the Commander of SFC as Maj Gen Don Nabasa proceeds on course at the National Defence College in China,” Brig Karemire said.
Special Forces Command (SFC) is a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), tasked with carrying out special missions in support of national military objectives.
