Police in Ngoma, Nakaseke district are holding a male suspect found illegally in possession of military stores who was arrested in Kikongi village in Ngoma sub-county after a tip by the residents.

The suspect has been identified as Mushenza Yokana, 24, a Boda Boda rider and resident of Wabigalo village in the neighbouring Nakasongola district.

According to the Police spokesperson, CP Fred Enanga, Mushenza had traveled to Ngoma to visit his relatives Kagisha and Rwamojo in Kikongi but the suspecting residents informed police which responded.

On arresting him, the suspect was in “possession of a Sub-Machine Gun with 80 round of ammunition, 6 magazines, 1 magazine coach, 1 military uniform, a beret and 1 concealment mask which he said he bought from a one Juma of Wabigalo at Shs5 million.”

Enanga says on further interrogation, the suspect revealed that he bought the mask purposely to carryout robberies in Ngoma sub-county since he was tipped that residents there don’t safely keep their money.

“He was told that cattle keepers and traders in this district do not often bank their money, they keep it within their homes and there were plans for them to start carrying out massive robberies in the area,” explained Onyango on Monday.
