The suspect in the gruesome murder of three children in Kyankwanzi district on Tuesday has been killed by the community after they found him.
On Tuesday, Police reported that it was hunting for a man identified as Emmanuel who killed three children and injured 8 others using a machete on Tuesday morning.
The murders were committed at Kagarama village, Butemba town council in Kyankwanzi district.
In its latest update, Police has identified the suspect as Twagirayezu Emmanuel and that he was killed later by the community.
Residents of the area alerted Police that Emmanuel armed with a machete attacked the home of a one Kalfred Mushabe where he cut people with no known reason.
The injured victims fled for their lives.At the homestead, Emmanuel cut and killed a 4-year-old baby, son to Mushabe.
Emmanuel then proceeded to another home of workers at a maize plantation and threatened to cut the women whom he found working at the plantation, according to a statement by the CID Spokesperson ASP Twiine Charles Mansio.
“Unfortunately as the women ran away Emmanuel cut dead two more kids aged 3 years and the other 9 months,” ASP Mansio said.
The killer vanished into a big maize plantation.
According to the Police statement, Emmanuel arrived in the village and rented land from one of the residents (Kalfred Mushabe).
Emmanuel has been cultivating his maize and also staying alone in his makeshift house on the said piece of land.
Residents said they were still puzzled as to why this gruesome murder was done, because there has not been any known conflict between Emmanuel and the victims. The residents also said they did not know the killer to be mentally unstable.
