Masaka Shooting Was Love Affair Gone Bad, Killer Dead – Police


A gunman shot and killed a boda boda rider and injured a pregnant woman in Masaka town. The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition. She died on arrival at the hospital.

The shooting took place outside Dr. Byansi’s pharmacy at Elgin street in Masaka town at about 1 pm. According to the CCTV footage seen by this news site, a woman boards a boda boda.

The gunman is seen approaching the woman and rider and engaging in a short exchange before opening gunfire, at close range, at the boda boda rider and his passenger.

Now, Police has identified the killed boda boda rider as Musasizi Francis, an LC I Chairman of Lutovu B village Kigeye Parish Malongo sub county in Lwengo district while the woman was a business woman resident in the same area.

“This occured today Friday 8th May, 2020 at around 1310 Hrs at Plot 9 Elgin street Masaka district by Muyaga Robert.  The case has been registered by police vide Msk CRB 275/ 2020,” reads a statement by Masaka Regional Police.

According to police, Muyaga believed his wife Nagasha had an affair with Musasizi and trailed the two today in Masaka town where Nagasha had come for medical treatment at Byansi clinic being ridden on Motorcycle UDU 629K by Musasizi.

“At Byansi clinic, Mugaya confronted Nagasha and shortly shot both Nagasha and Musasizi at close range. He left the scene with an AK 47 rifle,” the statement reads.

Mugaya has also been found dead at Forkland cell Masaka municipality Masaka district in Namatovu Sylivia’s room. Namatovu is a resident of Masaka.

According to Police, An AK 47 riffle UPDF 49032724 with 26 rounds of ammunition was recovered from the body of Mugaya. Three bullet casings were also recovered from Plot 9 Elgin street.

All the three bodies are at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for post mortem.

This news site understands that the gunman was not an LDU personnel but a member of the reserve forces and the Defence Spokesperson, Brig Richard Karemire will this evening address a press conference in Masaka.
