Uganda’s International football player, Farouk Miya Saturday scored for his side Konyaspor FC in a one all square game with Genclerbirligi in the Super Lig encounter.
Having fired blanks in his last three outings for the Anatolian Eagle, the 21-year-old rediscovered his scoring form at the Konya Buyuksehir Stadium.
In the keenly contested encounter, Miya put his side in front after 37 minutes thanks to Nejc Skubic’s assist.
However, the hopes of Aykut Kocaman’s men to secure their fourth win of the season faded into thin air following Yasin Pehlivan’s equaliser tapped in the added time of the second half.
Miya has now scored his 5th goal in the Turkish top league since joining them in August, four goals below top scorer P Cissé from Antalyaspor FC who has 9 goals.
Konyaspor is now in 9th position having garnered 13 points from 10 games. Alanyaspor tops the 18-club table with 19 points followed by Fenerbahçe with 17 points while Galatasaray sits in the 6th position with 16 points.
Miya’s side will travel to Sivasspor in their next outing on October 9 but the Cranes’ foward will not be part of the team since he will be with the national team preparing for the first 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier game against Burkina Faso on November 13 and later on Malawi on November 17 at Mandela National Stadium.
