Rubaga South Member of Parliament, Kato Lubwama, Thursday night lost his temper and fought events promoter, Andrew Mukasa also known as Bajjo events on live TV, for stating that he can not speak English.
The legislator and Mukasa were hosted on Spark TV by Miles Rwamiti on his famous ‘Koona’ show alongside another events promoter, Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex.
Emotions broke down when Bajjo accused Kato Lubwama who is also an acclaimed actor of being illiterate and not able to communicate in English, which renders him useless in parliament.
“We were in Parliament yesterday, but I swear Kato couldn’t say anything. The other men are wise and they know English,” Bajjo said.
Kato Lubwama instead kept heckling, asking the moderator to reign in on Bajjo for his remarks.
However, an adamant Bajjo insisted and challenged him to address the viewerss in English. The MP instead said that, that could only happen if the Luganda show is turned into an English one by the moderator.
A seemingly determined Bajjo continued and accused Lubwama of not being able to defend rights of fellow artist, Bobi Wine in Parliament, just because he can’t express himself in English, which immensely put off the MP’s temper and slapped him as he asked what he (Bajjo) wanted him to do for Bobi Wine when security had banned his music shows.
Bajjo instead continued telling the MP that he is of no value in the Parliament, before asking him to desist from threatening any person.
The situation intensified when the lawmaker kicked the table before standing and advancing to Bajjo amidst verbal exchange, all in the glare of the host and Abitex.
He (Kato) slapped him again prompting Bajjo to stand and attack back in self defence, but still in an exchange of a ‘sea’ of words.
It took the intervention of Rwamiti and Abitex who separated the two already ‘charged’ guests.
Thereafter, Kato Lubwama said he had finished speaking as he took off the lavalier mic attached to his shirt and walked out of the set.
