Nabakooba Regards Dr. Aceng Crowd Incident as Regrettable

Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Judith Nabakooba.

Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Judith Nabakooba, has urged Ugandans to continue heeding the guidelines to stem the spread of Covid-19.

This comes on the heels of photos that emerged on Saturday 11 July 2020 in which the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng appeared without a mask in a crowd that did not wear masks either, and the social distancing guideline was flouted.

Minister Nabakooba apologised for the incident and described it as “regrettable.” She also called on Ugandans not to follow her colleague in flouting the guidelines against Covid-19.

“As Government, we regret the incident, because we know very well the guidelines that have repeatedly been announced over and over again, and we expected that each and everyone would follow the guidelines,” Nabakooba said.

Adding, “we shouldn’t use Doctor (Aceng) to abandon observance of the guidelines or incite others into doing so.”
