Opposition and independent MPs on Tuesday foiled efforts to have the private members bill intended to lift the presidential age limit tabled on the floor of parliament.
The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga was forced to suspend the house to tomorrow after opposition legislators sang the national anthem for over five minutes bringing to a halt the reading of the bill by Hon. Raphel Magyezi.
Earlier there was chaos on the floor of parliament as MPs fought with each other after Kira municipality legislator Ssemujju Nganda accused state minister for Water Hon.Ronald Kibuule of coming to the house with a gun.
Efforts by Kibuule to deny the accusations proved futile as opposition MPs ganged up and tried to attack him causing chaos on the floor of the August house.
The order paper had been amended to include the motion by MP Magyezi on the age limit bill.
Business is expected to resume tomorrow afternoon.
The bill seeks to amend article 102 (b) that emphasises the presidential age limit as being 75 years of age.
