Members of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) together with the officers and men of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have Saturday engaged in a clean-up exercise of the Kawempe national referral hospital.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) exercise was aimed at promoting the culture of volunteerism among Ugandans. Among those who participated was the spokesperson of the UPDF, Brig Richard Karemire who represented the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen David Muhoozi.
Members of PRAU led by their President, Sarah, Kagingo also took part in the activity. Deputy spokesperson of the UPDF, Lt Col Deo Akiiki and former Police spokesperson, SSP Emilian Kayima were present as well.
The PR practitioners were assisted by a Unit from the UPDF First Division headquarters in Kakiri, led by spokesperson of the First Division, Maj Yusuf Bilal Katamba. The Unit also included the recently recruited Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel.
Participants scrubbed the different floors of the complex that houses in-patient wards, treatment sections and waiting areas. They also planted trees and a lawn outside the precincts of the hospital as part of an effort to beautify the facility.
