Fish lovers as well as those involved in the trade of fish on Sunday flocked the Forever Resort Beach in Jinja for the second edition of the Jinja fish festival.
The day event was initially disrupted by a heavy downpour in the morning, but when the skies were calm, fish enthusiasts began to trickle in.
Beyond trying out the tastes of the different varieties of fish that Uganda’s water bodies are gifted with, revelers also were entertained by a host of musicians.
Songstress Rema Namakula was among the entertainers who performed.
State Minister of Agriculture, Christopher Kibanzanga said that the fish sub-sector is growing exponentially with a surge in stock as well as exports.
The festival was funded by GIZ Responsible Fisheries Business Chain Project (GIZ RFBCP).
The team leader of GIZ RFBCP, Mr. Adolf Gerstil pledged that they will continue with efforts to promote sustainable fisheries and bring stakeholders to share what they are involved in.
