Bishop Emeritus of Busoga Diocese, Dr Cyprian Bamwoze has died after suffering Leukemia. He was admitted at the Uganda Cancer Institute at Mulago hospital at the time of his death on Monday morning.
Former Minister, Daudi Migereko described the news of his passing as sad. He died at age 86.
“The passing on of Bishop Bamwoze is sad news to all the religious people in Uganda. He was always full of ideas about transformation of society,” Migereko said Monday.
He eulogized Bishop Bamwoze as one who “had a message to do with what society needed to focus on” whenever he preached.
“Unfortunately, he had to battle leukemia for quite sometime. All these cancers are very painful”.
Bamwoze was the Bishop of Busoga diocese between 1972 and 1998 after which he retired following years of turbulence among his flock who accused him of maladministration and arrogance. He was succeeded by Dr Michael Kyomya.
Only in 2016, the Bishop lost his wife Naomi Bamwoze to diabetes and high blood pressure at Mulago hospital after battling several ailments for some time.
