Rwanda has registered its first death due to Covid-19, the Ministry of Health confirmed on Saturday night.

According to the statement, the man who died was a 65-year-old Rwandan trucker.

“He had been residing in a neighbouring country but opted to return home in Rwanda after falling seriously ill,” the statement reads.

“He received intensive care at a specialized covid-19 facility but unfortunately passed away due to severe respiratory complications.”

Rwanda’s Covid-19 count stands at 359.
