Simon Mulongo New Deputy Special Representative of AUC Chairperson to Somalia

Hon. Simon Mulongo has taken office as Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission to Somalia (DSRCC) following his deployment on 19th August 2017.

He takes over from Mrs. Lydia Wanyoto Mutende whose contract ended.

Simon Mulongo previously served as Director at the headquarters of the East African Standby Force in Nairobi.

 

The graduate of National Defence College Kenya was an MP and member of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee of Parliament.

His appointment is a recognition of Uganda’s active role in peace and security in Africa, especially Somalia where the East African country is the biggest Troop Contributing Country (TCC).
