Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi has been crowned Miss Universe ahead of Miss Puerto Rico.
The first contestant to progress to the top twenty, Zozibini did not falter once and made Africa so very proud at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Zozibini’s evening gown was worth the price of admission and as soon as she walked out on that stage she was the favourite to snatch the crown.
Zozibini radiated confidence on stage that was difficult to ignore.
“I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me, with my kind of skin and my kind of hair was never considered to be beautiful, and I think it is time that that stops, today. I want children to look at me and see my face, and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine,” the Kinky-haired Zozibini said while responding to the last set of questions before being crowned Miss Universe 2019.
She is the third Miss South Africa to claim the Miss Universe crown and she succeeds Catriona Gray of the Phillipines who took the crown in 2018.
