Uganda’s Aviation Body Wins Global Award for Facilitating Trade

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has been recognized by the International Trade Council with the Government Agency of the Year ‘Going Global’ Award (2019) in the aviation category.

The Award is in recognition of Customer Care, Infrastructure Improvement, training of staff, contribution towards supporting Tourism and Agriculture exports facilitated through Entebbe International Airport.

It was received by the Authority’s Manager Marketing and Commercial Service, Dr Tom Davis Wasswa in Chicago, USA on October 23, 2019.

The accolade comes a month after the International Civil Aviation Organization  (ICAO) recognized Uganda with the ICAO Council President’s Certificate in recognition of the efforts to resolve aviation security deficiencies.

The award by ICAO followed Uganda’s outstanding performance in the Universal Security programme – Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP – CMA) conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2017.

Uganda scored 81.8%, well above the global average of 73% and the African and Indian  Ocean (AFI) states average of 58%.
