Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has assured parents that they have not called for online registration of students in candidate classes during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

In as statement released on Sunday, UNEB regarded as misinformation claims that the board was collecting registration fees.

An open letter had been written to the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni alleging, among others, that UNEB is “stressing parents by starting registration and demanding for examination fees. This is completely false,” writes UNEB’s Public Relations Officer, Janefer Kalule-Musamba.

The examinations board has also appealed to parents and candidates to ignore claims that UNEB is demanding for payment of registration fees.

“While registration was meant to commence on April 1, this was canceled following the president’s announcement of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus. Registration will not happen until schools resume,” the UNEB statement reads.
