Woman Drowns in Kazo Valley Dam, Two Arrested Over Father’s Murder in Ntungamo

Police in Kazo district is investigating circumstances under which a 30-year-old woman drowned in a valley dam.

The deceased was only identified as Geniva, a Rwandan national and wife to Moses Kahariza resident of Kyengando III cell, Kyengando parish, Engari Sub County in Kazo District.

The body was discovered by the husband who came looking for her after she took long to return home.

According to Kahariza, the deceased fell in the dam at the farm on Wednesday.

She was fetching water to feed the cattle at around 2pm when she became unconscious and drowned in water.

Kahariza confirmed that his wife was about 6 months pregnant and was epileptic according to medical reports.

The scene was visited by acting DPC Kazo ASP Kinene and the body was taken to Kazo mortuary for postmortem.

The police team recovered the basin she was using from the dam and inquiries are still at hand.

In another development, police in Ntungamo district have arrested and detained two people in connection to the murder of a 70-year-old man in Miizi-Kabingo cell, Buhanama ward Nyamukana town council.

The arrested are Kasim Bamuturebye alias Craish, both sons to the deceased.

It is reported that the unknown assailants entered in a home of one Dodoviko Ndebesa on Wednesday night and stubbed him to death.

Rwizi region police spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirmed the unfortunate incident.

Kasasira says that it was on Thursday morning when one of the grandsons went to check on the grandfather but found him lying in a pool of blood.

The child rushed crying and told the father who alerted the police.

The police spokesperson says the mounted police search landed to one of the sons’ house.

The body was found with multiple injuries on the face and neck plus pair of pliers, screw power tester and a wire with blood stains was also recovered at the scene.

Kasasira says that the two sons had a misunderstanding with the father over the sale of the family land in two days back.
