KABAROLE – The Local Council (LC) One elections in Kabarole district were relatively calm with minimal cases of names missing in the voters register, according to the Electoral Commission.
Valley Kanzira, the district returning officer says that voters whose names were missing in the register did not participate in the voters’ register update exercise.
Kanzira has described the voting exercise in Kabarole as a success.
Musa Tibakirana the district police commander for Kabarole said that Police deployed at all hot spots but no serious violence was recorded.
He explains that some of the hot spots included Rwengoma, Kacwamba and Gweri.
In other parts of Uganda where voting did not take place yesterday due to various reasons, the exercise was conducted today.
Yesterday, the EC Chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama described the elections as largely successful, despite isolated cases. He said that a total of 633 villages out of 60,800 villages voted and elected leaders.
