Mukono Municipality MP, Betty Nambooze has lashed back at the opposition Democratic Party (DP) President, Norbert Mao who accused her of being double sided after being appointed to serve in Dr. Kizza Besigye’s ‘People’s Government’.

Nambooze was over the weekend appointed to serve as the Minister of Information and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Affairs.

Other DP members that were appointed in the Besigye government were Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewanyana as Youth and Sports Minister and the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who is the Deputy President.

Addressing the media on Tuesday Mao said that these members will be aligned before the party’s disciplinary committee noting that the party won’t allow Watermelon politicians who are Green on the outside but Red inside.

In response, Nambooze told the press at Parliament that they are not worried and scared of Mao’s intimidation noting that personally she is ready to be chased out of DP.

“I want to tell Mao that he is free to take me for disciplinary action and this won’t be the first time but rather the second time. The first time he suspended me from the party and I am happily serving the suspension,” Nambooze said.

Nambooze said that he wonders why Mao would take disciplinary action against them for closely working with Dr. Besigye.

“I don’t know why Mao gets annoyed when the opposition gets organised against President Museveni. Why doesn’t he act as an administrator, he would have called me and asked me why I chose to serve in the People’s Government,” Nambooze wondered.

Nambooze added, “It is true we are green outside and red inside but some people like him are green outside but yellow inside just like a pumpkin. Me, I am red inside and he is yellow inside, what only unites us is the green on the outside.”

She noted that they can’t allow to be intimidated by Mao adding that they are ready to face the disciplinary committee and ready to be chased out of the party so that they focus on the bigger agenda of liberating the country.

“We shall liberate DP after, from such people after liberating the country,” Nambooze observed.
